Our commitment to diversity

We believe diversity makes us stronger. We can most effectively transform society when we work as a team of people that reflects a variety of views and backgrounds, and when we create a culture where everyone belongs and feels welcome. At Resurgo, social justice is at the heart of our vision, and diversity is a key aspect of this mission.

We are listening, learning and improving our services to ensure both our team culture and the programmes we run are welcoming and accessible to all, and in particular to those who are from a UKME (UK Minority Ethnic) background.

As an employer, we are committed to increasing UKME representation among our staff and leadership, in particular to ensure that the coaches on our programmes effectively represent the communities they serve across the UK. One of the actions we have taken to further this is the introduction of a bursary scheme to provide additional funding for Spear coaches on our Graduate Coach Scheme who are from a UKME background, or who are from a lower socio-economic background, as our research and discussion with our own staff highlighted that this was a particular barrier.

In September 2020 we increased the pace at which we were training all our staff in anti-racism, and have a number of ongoing training streams to implement this. We continue to commit resource to this work, including having brought on a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist to help us keep this a key priority across all areas of work.  In addition, several staff focus groups representing minority groups feed in to discussions around organisational culture and policy, with the aim of creating a culture where staff truly belong and feel able to bring their whole selves to the workplace.

We are on a journey, and like many others, we know we have further to go. If you would like to hear more about our work in this area, please get in touch.
