The feature included interviews with young people at the Hammersmith centre on Day 1 of the Spear programme, as well as with co-founder Tom Jackson and John Spiers of EQ Investors, who are partnering with Spear and have employed young people from the programme. Tom spoke of the vision for setting up Spear over ten years ago, seeing the “untapped talent” in young people. John Spiers from EQ gave his perspective as an employer. He said, “We’re confident that Spear graduates are likely to be people who will stay with us for the long term… and that’s what we’ve found… The people we’ve taken on are diligent, they work hard and it’s been an absolute pleasure.”
We saw an immediate increase in enquiries from listeners asking to get involved in Spear, and we hope that the coverage raises exposure of Spear’s life changing work with young people.
