Resurgo is today launching their Christmas Campaign, ‘A Career Is a Gift’, aiming to raise £80,000 to help 40 more young people access the life-transforming support of the Spear Programme and kickstart their careers.
Latest estimates suggest that more than 1 in 8 young people in the UK are not in employment, education or training (NEET)¹.
More than half a million 16–24-year-olds are not actively seeking work¹, and just 10% of young people think they will be able to access quality work where they live².
Resurgo’s campaign invites the reader to challenge their negative or apathetic opinions of work, and instead consider the benefits of employment for this demographic group, who face specific and serious challenges.
Ella Pugh-Smith, Resurgo’s Head of Philanthropy, says,
“For young people struggling with mental health, financial worry or chronic loneliness, we know that work is so much more than ‘just a job’. It’s routine, purpose, financial security and community. Every penny of our A Career Is a Gift campaign will help more young people access the support of the Spear Programme and, in turn, all the benefits that work has to offer, and that they deserve.”
Resurgo’s Spear Programme coaches and equips young people like John across the UK with the practical tools and resilient mindsets they need to get on the career ladder, no matter their background or the barriers they face. You can watch John’s inspiring story here.
