Resurgo and LOVECHURCH Bournemouth are delighted to be partnering to launch the award-winning Spear Programme in Bournemouth in March.

Each year, the programme will help 90 unemployed young people overcoming disadvantage and change their lives. With youth unemployment soaring due to the pandemic, the Spear Programme will meet the needs of young people who will benefit from coaching around mindset, attitude and hard skills in order to enter the workplace.

Bournemouth is a city of economic contrast and the Spear Programme aims to reach 16-24-year-olds people across the city including those living in Boscombe Central, which sits in the top 1% of deprivation in England.

The first Spear Programme will begin online in March and will be open to 16-24-year-olds who are not in education, employment or training. The programme will move to in person delivery when possible.

Ali Geake, Trustee of Spear Bournemouth, said, “People who have already struggled in life, at school, and in employment have now been disproportionately affected by the coronavirus pandemic. I am delighted that we have an antidote to this.  Young people in Bournemouth who have struggled at school or at work have another option to give them hope for a better future. The Spear Programme has been proven to work in other major cities in the UK and now it’s here in Bournemouth, ready to coach and support 16-24-year-olds through a particularly tough period. I am already looking forward to hearing stories of how this personalised approach to providing support will play out in the lives of young people, and the businesses and wider community that will be positively impacted through their contribution.”

Jo Rice, CEO and C0-Founder, Resurgo, said, “We are hugely excited to be partnering with LOVECHURCH to bring the Spear Programme to Bournemouth, our second centre to open on the South Coast of England, following the opening of Spear Brighton in 2018. We are so grateful to the local team who have caught the vision and worked hard to make this happen, and we’re looking forward to hearing stories of transformation among young people in Bournemouth who are struggling to get into work or education.”
